Save Yourself the Hassle and Choose Laser Hair Removal
Unwanted hairs can be annoying. Not only are hairy legs, hairy arms, or a hairy back considered unattractive, removing hairs on our own is extremely time-consuming. And they grow back so fast! Whether you pluck them, shave them, or wax them, they grow back in just a week or so and you have to start the process all over again.
Fortunately, for people who struggle with this, there is a more effective and permanent solution to hair removal than waxing, shaving, or plucking: laser hair removal.
What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that is commonly performed around the world. It uses highly concentrated laser energy beams to target and destroy hair follicles, stopping further growth in that area.
Most recipients of laser hair removal report that unwanted hair growth is permanently reduced by as much as 90 percent. Depending on factors such as your medical history and current health condition, you may need to come back for more treatments, since hair can grow back due to fluctuations in hormones.
Laser hair removal is a great option for those who are sick and tired of traditional hair-removal methods. A huge advantage is that the laser is extremely precise, targeting only the concerned area where unwanted hair grows and not causing any kind of damage to the surrounding skin.
What Is the Procedure Like?
About six weeks before your treatment, you must refrain from waxing and plucking, since these remove the hair roots, which are the targets of laser hair removal. If possible, try to avoid exposure to the sun as much as possible, too, since this can make the procedure less effective.
The procedure for laser hair removal is not very complicated. When you visit our office for your appointment, your hair will be trimmed just a few millimeters above the surface of your skin. Then, depending on the color, location, and thickness of the hair that is to be treated, adjustments will be made to the laser.
You will wear eye protection, and a cold gel will be applied to the concerned area, which will allow the light from the laser to go through the skin safely. The laser light is absorbed by the follicles, causing heat damage to the hair bulb and follicle.
After this, we may give you ice packs or anti-inflammatory lotions to treat any discomfort you may have. The entire procedure takes about 20 minutes to complete.
What Is the Recovery Process Like?
You will start seeing results after two or three weeks, and you can achieve enhanced results by coming for follow-up treatments. It is recommended that you do not engage in strenuous physical activities for a day or two after the treatment, since the heat from the laser stays in your system for about 24 hours. This means you have to avoid hot showers and saunas, too.
Make sure you always go out with sunscreen, as this helps to prevent any color changes in the treated areas. Minor side effects such as swelling and bruising may occur, but these will disappear in a few days.
